String Song
Instrumentation: kinetic sculpture and live electronics
String Song is a guided improvisation for prepared kinetic sculpture and live electronics. The sculpture is a collaboration between Aurie Hsu and Kyle Hartzell. The sculpture uses wooden gears that are motorized to draw a “bow” continuously across the string. The instrument serves as a sound source for live electronics that further expand the instrument.
